Super Bowl Round-Up 2018
You might not be the biggest football fan. You might not even know who’s playing in this week’s big game, but if you’re like me, you can’t resist the chance to create a fun food spread for Super Bowl 2018. Here are few tips for a successful gathering.
Keep It Simple. You don’t want to spend too much time preparing a lot of food before the big game. Invite others to bring food or just simply serve a great big bowl of soup or chili with chips and dips and big platter of cut-up veggies and a plate of cookies. Call It Done!
Serve Finger Foods. You’re eating around the television screen on your lap so no-utensils is the rule. Serve sandwiches, sliders, skewered meats, chunks of cheese and crackers, mugs of soup or chili or bite-size pizzas along with chips and dips, platters of cut-up fruits and veggies.
Pump Up the Protein. Bowl games are pretty long so you want to hold the appetites of your guests. Protein has good staying power, that is it stays in the gut a little longer than just serving snack foods and desserts full of quickly digesting carbohydrates. Protein is found in animal and dairy products as well smaller amounts in nuts, seeds and vegetables. So offer cheese and lunch meat platters, meaty soups, stews or chilis, meat-lover pizzas, pulled pork sandwiches, meatballs, skewered meats or meat-filled tacos, taquitos or burritos.
Boost the Nutrition. Everyone will appreciate a little balance in what you serve. Along with the delectable desserts always make sure there are plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables displayed on cutting boards or in baskets. Soups, stews and chilis loaded with vegetables and meats make the perfect all-in-one meals. Pizzas and sandwiches are also healthy options that everyone loves.
Enjoy your Super Bowl 2018 food spread with foods that will please all your guests, even if the score doesn’t go your way. Check out some of my favorite football party fixins’ from the archives of the blog below.
