Easy Pepperoni Pita Pizzas
Whether you’re in a hurry to fix dinner or just want a quick after school snack for your kids, these quick and easy Pita Pizzas fit the need. I start with whole wheat pita or flatbread and top with your favorite toppings like prepared pizza sauce, sliced green onions, mushrooms, red bell pepper, olives, turkey pepperoni (great flavor for a lot less fat) and Italian cheeses like part-skim mozzarella and Parmesan. I like to sprinkle some dried Italian herb blend on top. Obviously feel free to experiment with different toppings like pineapple, Canadian bacon, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, or spinach or whatever you have on hand. Bake at 450 degrees for 6-8 minutes and DONE! Serve with cut fruit or tossed green salad for a tasty, nutritiously complete meal that is ready in less than 20 minutes.
- Easy Pepperoni Pita Pizzas
- 8 pita or flatbread (7 to 8 inch diameter), uncut
- 1 cup of your favorite pizza sauce (I use Contadina Pizza Squeeze)
- 1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
- 1/2 cup sliced turkey pepperoni
- 1/2 cup sliced olives
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions
- 2 tsp dried Italian herb blend
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Arrange pita or flatbreads on baking sheet.
- Squeeze about 2 Tbsp pizza sauce on bread and spread to edges with the back of a spoon. Repeat with remaining pizzas. Divide remaining pizza toppings evenly between pizzas or let family members choose their own toppings to create their own pizzas.
- Bake at 450 degrees F for 6 to 8 minutes or until crust is crisp and cheeses are melted.
