Christmas Round-Up 2014
It’s the week before Christmas and all through your home, you’re scrambling for recipes that don’t taste like foam. The aprons are hung by the oven with care, with hopes that Martha Stewart will rescue your fare?
Are you needing a little help figuring out what to serve for Christmas dinner this year? Here are twelve worthy contenders from my archives as well as a few favorites that are sure to please your palette. Thank you to those creative cooks who make holiday recipes so delicious and nutritious!
1) Bacon Wrapped Chicken Bites from Mel’s Kitchen Cafe. Zesty, seasoned bites of chicken tenders wrapped in everyone’s favorite blanket: bacon.
2) Mediterranean Stuffed Phyllo Cups from Inside Karen’s Kitchen. A cream cheese base of stunningly flavorful Mediterranean ingredients stuffed into pre-made mini phyllo dough cups. Easiest appetizer ever!
3) Balsamic Glazed Green Beans with Cranberries and Almonds from Lauren Kelly Nutrition. Traditional but seasonal with a touch of honey and garlic for a perfect holiday side dish.
4) Holiday Salad with Satsuma and Pomegranate from The Foodie Dietitian. Juicy, vitamin-C packed satsumas (like mandarins) combine with kale and shredded Brussels sprouts in this healthy seasonal salad.
5) Holiday Cranberry Salad from Inside Karen’s Kitchen. A perfect fit for your holiday table with it’s seasonal red and green fruits finished with a creamy low-fat cinnamon topping.
6) Sweet Potatoes Ruth’s Chris Style from The Girl Who Ate Everything. Sweet potatoes are not just for the Thanksgiving table. Treat yourself to this simply irresistible presentation that pairs so well with your Christmas ham, turkey or roast.
7) Twice Baked Potato Casserole from Inside Karen’s Kitchen. It’s all the goodies you love on top of your twice-baked potatoes, but conveniently combined into one lovely baking dish.
8) Prime Rib Recipe from Simply Recipes. Here’s a great tutorial on how to roast the perfect prime rib. We added prime rib to our Christmas traditions several years ago and are loving every fabulous bite.
9) Maple Walnut Crusted Salmon from Inside Karen’s Kitchen. Serving salmon is unique but I can’t think of a more tasty and healthy approach to celebrating the holiday.
10) Jam Thumbprint Cookies from Inside Karen’s Kitchen. I couldn’t resist sharing the cookie to which I attach sentimental memories of my darling grandmother who served these at Christmas gatherings.
11) Winning Cranberry Bundt Cake from Taste of Home. I love the simplicity of this cake made with sour cream, dried cranberries and pecans. This might become a new holiday favorite.
12) Hot Cinnamon Milk from Oh So Delicioso. Nothing will warm your belly more on a cold winter’s night as you gather with your family during the holidays. The recipe is a powder base with directions on how to mix it.
